What is this CSS?

    I know how to do the grid setup but the rollover feature is a different story… I know this a some kind of CSS script but I can’t seem to find it or how to do it anywhere… it’s a rollover that uses text from the post… also the picture in the grid is set from the Featured Picture option from the post… any help is appreciated

    The Gridspace theme on WordPress.com has a similar effect:

    However, the effect in this case is done with jQuery not CSS. It looks to me like the technique at http://www.dessign.net/gridthemeresponsive/ is done the same way. You can test to see if something depends on JavaScript by temporarily turning of JavaScript in your web browser settings and then reloading the web page and trying to trigger the hover effect again.

    There are probably some CSS-only hover effects that are similar but definitely modern browser only. Try doing a Google search for “CSS hover effects” to see what you can come up with.
