What is up with the spacing?!!!!

Why has WordPress taken away the the most basic spacing between blocks? Everything sticks together now?!!!

I just wanted to add that the lack of line break appears in most of the themes (I know because I tried them all), including the theme I was using, Editor.
I cannot stand the look of the lack of spacing so I am now reverting to an old theme I used that supports the logical line breaks. However, I would still be grateful if someone could get back to me on why in the world this was allowed to happen.

It looks like the theme for the site may have changed.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. The theme, as I have mentioned above, is Editor.
However, this lack of line break is happening in many themes that are available on WordPress.com. I have tried many of them and it is the same. The bug appears in all blogs posts. All the posts I’ve made in the past are encountering this lack of line break.

I’ve spent some time looking through the current site with the Photos Theme in use and compared that to the screen shot that you sent.
Would you happen to have any other screen shots of the botched spacing that we could use for reference in our testing? Those can get uploaded in the site’s media library and we will be able to see them there.
It will also be helpful to know all the themes that you saw this problem with. Additionally, which browser (and version number) are you working from? I’ll need all of that information to try and replicate what is happening. Thank you.

Here are more screenshots of when I switch the theme to Editor:
Note that even the text are placed extremely close to the image above it, there used to be a reasonable line break between them, like it is on my current theme, Photos. Excluding the themes that use Block Editor exclusively, I remember only encountering one or two other themes that didn’t present this botched spacing but I can’t remember them now. The botched spacing appears on the site when I use Safari 15, Chrome 105 and Brave 1.43.93.

I’m essentially cloning your site on my private test site to see if I can reproduce the issue without affecting your site in any way, but I forget the export might send an email.

Hi there, unfortunately, this appears to be the same problem as this bug reported earlier today: https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/6611
Our developers will take a look and fix this, but overall I recommend using a newer theme.
The Editor theme you tried to use hasn’t been updated since 2017 and does not support the latest (ironically for its name) editor features.
This bug should be fixed, but some newer editor features may not work correctly down the line.

Hello, no worries on the emails about the export. Thanks for the clarification, it’s weird because the bug happened literally overnight. One day it was fine and the next it wasn’t. As I’ve mentioned previously, I tried almost all the free themes available and noticed that most of the themes presented this error and guessed that it was due to a WordPress Editor change.
Thanks for the info on the theme itself. Just a note, the sidebar tabs are not working as they should on this theme as well but since it hasn’t been updated for such a long time it is not really consequential now. Thanks for the help!
