What is with this double spacing?
-
I have learned by going through the forums here, that to avoid the double spacing thing in posts, you should hold down the shift key while you are writing.
But I´m trying to paste in something I have written in Microsoft Word and no matter what I do, when I paste it in, it ends up double spaced, and I can´t change it.
Why is this double space thing standard here?
How do you get around it?
And again, why?

The spacing is designed into the theme.
To display the second row of icons in the Visual editor, select the toolbar toggle icon at the end of row 1 and click it. https://i0.wp.com/en.support.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/kitchensink.png
If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph. If you are working in the HTML editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines.
Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/
If you are copying and pasting from a word processing document like Microsoft WORD note that the paste as WORD button was removed from the editor months ago. If you use the Paste as plain text button then a special cleanup process will run to remove any special formatting and HTML tags that may otherwise change your text. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text Therefore you have to do your own formatting and spacing.
Whether or not you are copying and pasting go to > Dashboard > Settings > Writing and enable this setting:
Formatting
__ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
“save changes”IMPORTANT NOTE: When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

Thank you, I understand this, but I´m afraid that if I write directly into the word press editor thing it won´t auto save what I´m writing if I take too long.
I don´t understand why this small issue needs such extended support and at least 8 paragraphs of explanation.

Then please go to your blog Admin page https://vafann.wordpress.com/wp-admin and navigate to the classic editor here → Dashboard → Posts → Add New and timing out while creating a post or copying and pasting from WORD will not be an issue.
Advice:
re: → Dashboard → Posts → Add New
If you have cookies enabled on your browser your preference will be saved unless or until your clear your cookies, and it will take you to the classic editor automatically every time you create a new post via the drop-down menu in the black admin bar or edit a post via the edit button on the blog itself.2. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
3. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.

I will tomorrow, time zone thing.. :)
Still, I don´t understand why this is a problem at all.
A huge platform like Word press not being able to just make it normal to single space in blogs. It works fine here, why not in blogs?
Who in the world normally double spaces every sentence? -
It really is irritating, and it used to work at least 50% of the time. It no longer works, period, when you paste. Even if you paste into the Text editor.
FYI here’s a tip I have discovered: when you fix the spacing, you have to start at the top and work down. If you start at the bottom and work up, it always double spaces at least one line.

I just want to say, that I finally tried using the old editor to copy and paste from Word, since I wrote something a bit longer than a photo caption more or less.
It worked perfectly.
