What kind of hosting WordPress.com premium hosting is ?

  Hi There,
  I am just wondering if the fact of upgrading from free account to premium account means moving to a shared plan hosting within wordpress.com.
  I have two website hosted elsewhere and by time I learned that if you expect peaks of traffic on your website you need server RAM and certainly not shared hosting, otherwise some of your jobs on server will be killed by robots and your visitors will have this silly Internal server error page.
  So my question is : when we upgrade to a premium wordpress.com account, is that a shared hosting ? if no(or yes) what is the RAM limit on server ?

  All blogs here at WordPress.com are either free hosted or they are VIP hosted. There are no other options at all.

  There is no such thing as a premium account. We can purchase individual upgrades that apply to one blog for one year when renewal is due or bundles of upgrades that apply to one blog for one year when renewal is due.

  So from the description we cannot upload custom themes, but can we add plugins ?

  No, you cannot.

  There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

  There is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that changes anything stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and restated again here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#important-notes-before-upgrading

  If you want to have a blog you have FTP access to plugins and/or install themes into then you will need to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  I forgot to add “plugins” into this sentence above.
