What kind of Privacy Rules does WORDPRESS have?
-
I’ve heard that google has diff privacy rules in diff countries. is it the same for wordpress? would the ip addresses of wp users be given up if a country deems the blog’s literary content to be derogatory. does WP have its own guidelines as to what is allowed and what is not?
for eg. certain countries do not let their people criticize religions or social figures. would WP give up its user in a situation like that? -

The footer of this page contains a link that says Privacy. If that doesn’t fully answer your questions, contact support directly. We’re mostly volunteers here, answering technical questions.

And you can do a search to see what they’ve done in the case of Turkey and Brazil.
Is this a hypothetical question?

We don’t give out information about users unless we’re legally required to do so. We’re blocked in China, Turkey and probably other places because we don’t co-operate with authorities there.

hey tellyworth, could you elaborate a little more on why the authorities there wanted you to give the info? what were the charges? would the parodying or criticism of public figures using mature language and ‘obscene’ humor in countries, like India, where they might not necessarily consider it complying with the law cause wordpress to suspend the privacy rules?
freedom of speech is increasingly coming under threat all over. -
If you google it, you’ll find it was a major issue all over the internet. Or try Lorelle’s site: http://lorelle.wordpress.com . She usually has good writeups and she was all over the recent Brazilian issue.
