What Made You Decide To Blog?

I recently attended a class at the library which was supposed to be about building web sites. It turned out to be about World Press, and the instructor wanted for each of us to start a blog account if we did not have one. I want to be respectful of the commitment which the instructor said that a blog is because I want to take more computer classes at the library, but I am a little confused as to what I commited to.
Perhaps I could really use the help from some much younger people because they have no memory of a time without computers while I have a memory of the first computer I ever saw because it was huge enough to take up an entire room. It blinked in the dark, and I stood in the doorway and stared at it in awe. If anyone had locked me in the same room with that thing, I would have died from the terror! As you can probably tell, I am an old lady.
What made you decide to blog? I was always considered a quiet child so I wonder how those who have the dedication to keep blogging even find so much to say. So what motivated you, and what keeps you motivated?
