what now?

not sure what to do. I have 2 domains at godaddy. I am using one of them for my retail store. I just bought your premium for 1 year at $99. All I want is an easy link so my blog connects to my store and vice versa. So when folks go to either, they can walk through the door to the other section or room. One room is main store room the other room is the blog with vital information about some of the herbal products we sell etc….So I see lots of answers but being non computer literate and doing too many things at once of course I need someone to set it up so I don’t flounder about for three days…LOL can you help me set it up correctly? Thank you!

  • Hi,

    Welcome to WordPress.com!

You can create a custom menu for your blog on WordPress.com and add a link to your store there. The menu can be edited via the Appearance->Menu page (direct link: https://cmatusky.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php )

We have a support page that has a handy video showing you how that all works: Custom Menus.

On your other site, you can add a similar link, assuming your other site allows that.

Would you like to use one of your existing domains on your WordPress.com account completely (e.g. if it is example.com, having example.com point to your site at WordPress.com) or would you like to use a subdomain (which would be something like blog.example.com — like the first one, but with one more part to the address).

Depending on which, I can give you instructions that is specific to that instead of throwing a ton of stuff your way!

    Cheers!

Thank you! I sent a request to GoDaddy to add a subdomain to my wordpredd blog but have heard nothing back yet. I want a link between the two for sure! So whatever help you can provide so I can do that is awesome!

  • For a subdomain, on our end, you can add it by following these instructions: Map a Subdomain.

The short version of the above (which is a good read with screenshots and whatnot) is you’ll visit your Store->Domains site and type in the subdomain (blog.domain.com or whatnot). Since you have our Premium bundle, there is no additional charge to map one domain/subdomain.

After that, at GoDaddy, you’ll need to add a CNAME for your subdomain to point to cmatusky.wordpress.com.

After a little bit of time for it to process (domain changes take a little bit), it should work like a charm.

    Cheers!
