What option is best for me?
-
Hello,
My name is Caesar, and I am looking to transfer my website builder from GoDaddy to WordPress. I would like to keep my godaddy email addresses. I am looking to use WP in order to use Beaver Builder. Should I transfer my domain or map it?
Thank you.

Hi Caesar,
First, let’s distinguish between WordPress the software, and WordPress.com the hosting provider.
If you just want to use the WordPress software, you can host that directly with GoDaddy if you wanted to. In that case you need to contact their support for help switching you to a WordPress hosting plan, and converting your content from their website builder to a new WordPress site. Support for that software is provided by the community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
The forum you’re posting in now is for WordPress.com, a hosting provider like GoDaddy. To use a plugin like Beaver Builder with us, you’ll need to be on our Business Plan.

When you point or transfer your existing domain to us, you’ll be able to add the DNS records needed for your GoDaddy email to keep working on our end, so that’s not a problem. Just check with GoDaddy whether they’ll need you to keep the domain registered with them or not to continue with your email – if they do, you can just connect the domain here using our domain mapping option.

You should leave pointing the domain to us until the end, though, when you’re ready to take the current site offline.
And for importing your content from GoDaddy’s website builder to a new site on WordPress.com you can see here:
