What size is the top photo of each post displayed on the home page-Oxygen theme?
-
I use the Oxygen theme and would like to know the size of the banner photo that’s displayed on my home page for each post (so, the top image of each post). My photos aren’t fitting correctly. Editing in the library isn’t working, it will only let me keep the photos a square. Help on what the size needs to be for the top photo to display correctly on the home page would be appreciated, as well as how/if I can resize in wordpress or if I need to do that before uploading to library. Thank you.

Hi Jerri Ann,
The Oxygen theme has some great information on its informational page which is right here:
https://wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/
If you scroll down a bit there’s a section about featured images. I’ve gone ahead and included that right here:
Featured Images
To get the most of this theme, setting Featured Images is important. Featured Images appear in the featured slider in the Showcase Page template, or as a post thumbnail in your list of Recent Articles. Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide.
If you are planning to resize images, I find that it’s usually best to resize before uploading to WordPress.com, just so you have complete control over the process. It’s of course entirely up to you however!

I appreciate your response, however, I’m either misunderstanding (which is quite likely the case) or I didn’t express my problem clear enough.
I tried setting the image as my “featured image”, and also resized it before adding to WP. However, when I set it as my featured, it does not show up at the top of the post when you’re in the post. Which I would like to happen. Does that make sense?
So, I tried both using the featured (I don’t want to use the slider thing so is using featured even necessary?) and just putting the photo at the top of the post. I resized (to 300×168) and the image is still cut off when viewing from my homepage…
So, does anyone know the size (width and height) of the top image which will display on the homepage on Oxygen? Thanks!

Hi Jerri Ann,
I apologize, I didn’t realize that you were asking why the image wasn’t appearing at the top of actual post pages!
In the case of Oxygen the image does not get re-displayed there. Some themes do place the image at the top of posts as well as on the front of your site, however not in this case. You may want to check a theme’s demo page to make sure that it works how you’d like it to. You can go to http://theme.wordpress.com/ and click on any theme to get additional information for any theme.
