What sort of support is given when moving to wordpress.org?

I will definitely set up the new email subscriber service to automatically send out emails when I post something new! So, there’s no way to get all my subscribers to get the new email unless they resubscribe through the new one on my self hosted site?
I think I’ll update the message and let people know that once my new site is up they should resubscribe if they only see me through worpress.com if they want emails sent…then let them know once the site is up through all my social media…

There actually is a way to condense your email subscribers into your AWeber list. Once we move the subscribers to your self-hosted site, I’ll point you to how you can download a CSV file of all email subscribers through WordPress.com/Jetpack. Then, you can upload them to your AWeber list following the steps here:

Hi! I’m all transferred over and took my site live! Can I get my subscribers, stats, etc transferred as soon as possible?? I have a deadline for a paid post I’m doing by Wednesday so Id love to get everyone over and up and running.
Also do you have a tutorial to help me get everyone into the mail chimp account I created? I think I just need a csv?? Thanks so much!

Yep! We’ll definitely have them transferred over by Wednesday. Real quick – can you disconnect and reconnect Jetpack to your site? There was a bit of confusion regarding the temporary URL you had setup. Disconnected and reconnected should fix this. You can find the disconnect option under Jetpack -> Jetpack and then looking in the footer on your self-hosted site.
I’ll provide instructions on exporting your subscribers once we get this all done!
-
So I pretty much spent all night dealing with the issue of my URL not moving away from the temp. Bluehost eventually fixed it. If I disconnect jetpack and reconnect is there ANYTHING I can potentially lose as far as my site goes??
-
-
Ok, I deactivated and then reactivated Jet pack! So go for it! Let me know if you need anything else and when it’s done…
TIA!

Awesome! I transferred the subscribers. You can see them on your self-hosted site here:
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=85394961&blog_subscribers&unit=1
I’ve also moved the stats over. You can see them here:
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=85394961&unit=1
Regarding exporting your subscribers in a CSV file, you can do that from the link above. At the bottom of the page, you should see the following link:
Can you give that a try?

Hi! It worked! I imported them to mail chimp and got all 400…so not sure if you know mail chimp, but now that I have my subscribers I set up a campaign that links back to my rss feed. Which means every time I post something new it will send out an email with that info to all my subscribers on my list?
And I can see both my stats and my followers in my dashboard on my admin panel…finally something going easy.
Thanks so much! Anything else I need?
-
Yep! I have a similar campaign setup at Mailchimp for a personal site of mine. It works really well!
Anything else I need?
I think we’re good to go! Your self-hosted site looks awesome. Please let us know if you need anything else!
-
Thanks! Just trying to figure out design elements now…oh and work on re uploading all 1200 of my images…ugh
-
Oh! There is one last piece to the puzzle. We’ll want to remove the upgrades from your account so that you’re not charged for something you’re not using.
Currently, you have a 10GB upgrade and Custom Design upgrade. We can safely remove both of those without affecting anything.
The other upgrade (domain mapping for veggiesdontbite.com) is currently redirected veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com to your self-hosted site. It works similarly to our Site Redirect upgrade. If we remove that, visitors could wind up at veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com and not your new site. If you’re okay with that, we can remove it as well. Can you just reply back to confirm?
-
So, definitely remove the 10 gb upgrade…
If we remove the second one, then how would they end up at my veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com if they type in veggiesdontbite.com? I made my site private on the .com side
Does it cost anything to keep it? And is there anything else I am charged for now?
-

Done!
If we remove the second one, then how would they end up at my veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com if they type in veggiesdontbite.com?
The only way they would wind up at veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com is if they visited an old URL (on Facebook or elsewhere) that linked to your .wordpress.com URL or a post URL like this:
http://veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com/2015/02/09/raw-key-lime-raspberry-pudding-parfaits/
Currently, if you visit that page, you’ll be redirected to the following:
http://www.veggiesdontbite.com/2015/02/09/raw-key-lime-raspberry-pudding-parfaits/
Without the domain mapping upgrade, readers would just land on an error page.
The upgrade would cost $13/yr and wouldn’t need renewing until 11/10/15. Whether or not you choose to renew it really depends on how many people you imagine visiting veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com. If you don’t think there will be very many, it’s probably not worth keeping up.
Since the site is private, it probably makes sense to remove the Custom Design upgrade as well. Is that alright?
-
So since I NEVER had veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com out there as a link I gave out because when I came to you guys I already owned my domain veggiesdontbite.com will this even be an issue??
If I remove the Custom Design, it will take away all my custom CSS I made right? If I put it back one day for some reason like I wanted to reopen the blog again, will it restore that or will I have to start over? If so, could I copy and paste the CSS in a word document and then put it back in to restore everything?

Nope! We should be good to remove.

The Custom CSS will be inactivated on veggiesdontbite.wordpress.com. However, it will be stored in the CSS revision history for that site. So, in the future, if you decide to come back to WordPress.com and want to reactivate the subscription, we’ll have it all saved for you!
-
Great, since I always owned my domain, then no reason to keep…
As long as I can get back to my site as it was should I ever want to…then no reason to pay for anything.
So by removing these then I won’t have any charges anymore?
Also, quick question, the iPhone app I have for wordpress, does that control my new .org site as well? I keep seeing updates on there still and my comments on my new site but i just assumed it was for my .com site…
Thanks!

Sounds good! I removed all of your upgrades.
So by removing these then I won’t have any charges anymore?
Correct! You won’t get charged any longer from WordPress.com.
Also, quick question, the iPhone app I have for wordpress, does that control my new .org site as well?
It sure does! You’ll want to make sure you’ve added your self-hosted site though (it won’t get automatically added). From the mobile app, click on “My Sites”. Then, click on “Add a Site.” You’ll need to enter your self-hosted site address (www.veggiesdontbite.com) and your self-hosted site login credentials. Can you give that a try?
