What steps am I missing when setting up a new domain through WordPress.com?

  I purchased 2 domains yesterday, 02/08/2012, through WordPress.com.

  ahahuikapolei.com and khandlfoundation.org

  When selecting either of those domains from the Domains List I’m sent to ahahuikapolei.worpress.com.

  Are there other step I need to follow? Should I have registered those domains in separate accounts? Not under the hcckapolei account?

  Do you want to use those domains on two separate sites? The domain registration and mapping upgrade means that you can use those URLs with ahahuikapolei.wordpress.com as the underlying blog URL.

  If you want to use those with a different blog, you’ll need to register an additional site and we can move the domain mapping over for you:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

  You can register more sites here:
  http://wordpress.com/signup/

  Thanks for your reply.

  “Do you want to use those domains on two separate sites?”. I think the answer is yes. Yes, my intention was two different, separate sites.

  “If you want to use those with a different blog, you’ll need to register an additional site and we can move the domain mapping over for you:”. I think this is the way to go. Do I register the two sites with you folks via WordPress.com/signup?

  Yes, while logged, you can add additional blogs to your account at https://en.wordpress.com/signup/

  Okay. I need a little more detail than that.

  When I add the additional blogs, what type of blog am I adding? example.wordpress.com or example.com?

  If, logged in, you go to https://en.wordpress.com/signup/ you’ll be able to signup for a new blog.

  You can opt to get a domain with your blog during the signup (there’s an option for that in the form), or just get an example.wordpress.com address.

  You can always add your own domain to any example.wordpress.com later as well, using the store page in your new site’s dashboard.
