What steps do I need to take before purchasing a guided transfer?

    I am going to purchase the guided transfer to move from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I just am unsure of exactly what needs to be in place first. Am I right in thinking I need to purchase a domain name and then subscribe to a hosting site? Is that how it works? (I’ve read the guided transfer details…just still unsure.)
