What the f**k is with the little bell?

@grahaminhats, I’m talking more about framing negative feedback constructively. Helps to have specifics. Helps to show a reason for why something negatively impacts your workflow. If it’s purely an issue of not liking something, I can note that as well, but it doesn’t make a strong argument for change. Your original thread had some of both. I noted your feedback already.
@apetcher, no worries! I get that progress is a process that happens over time. Talking more about specifics examples would help. Separating issues into threads by topic so each separate can be discussed one issue at a time would also be cool (but I get that might not happen, I’m just being wishful there). :) I can note dislikes like what you posted, it’s just that they aren’t as compelling as constructive feedback with specific examples.
statistics are no longer as comprehensive
The data avail. has not changed. What specifically were you looking for that you couldn’t find? Any chance you could start a separate thread for that with a specific example? This thread was originally about the bell icon.
It seems that WordPress software is confused and there are several different data streams and ways off accessing screens and menus
I see your point. Instead of a full stop switch and getting rid of the old WP Admin pages, those are all still present and available—so you should be able to use those and get to the old way of doing things using the left menu items in the older style dashboard if you want to just use that route. I can see how having a separate new dashboard can be confusing though. I advocated for keeping good connections between both so you can get from one to the other as the new features get built up.

Would you mind please stating a separate thread for your stats issue with some more specific details included?
Just look at the left bar – weeks and months – anyone with 20-60 or better eyesight can see the problem – sorry the developer either did not test, look or something

Okay. I will take a look and include this in feedback. Let’s keep this thread about the bell icon from now on. Your comments about stats are off topic to the bell icon.

Unfortunately for some of us, 2014 has been a year of constant adjustment to the perceived (for WP) improvements in our blog experience. Picture editor for example.
What that actually means is – WP will implement changes whether you like it or not: complaint is futile, you will be absorbed no matter what.
So I have the answer – ignore it all and work around the changes then when it becomes intolerable MOVE. -
(sigh)
No apping, no texting with all its mind-shrinking acronyms in all caps, no Yo-ing, no twitting, tweeting or twatting or whatever, no emoticons, no Instagramming, no Snapchatting, no Flickring, no Skyping, no Facebooking, no farm animals, angry birds, or crushed candy.
Just writing.
You know, like words. On a page. In a reliable format.
Some of us still rock it old school like the masters, some of us keep it real. WordPress began as a tribute to our tribe, it would be a terrible shame if it lost sight of that foundation. Give us a way to simplify our screens, give us that option, at least. We’re happy to patronize (and laud!) your establishment again and again but we didn’t order salt on our margaritas.
Take it back.

I would like to help you. I cannot stop change though!
WordPress.com is going to continue to evolve. Change can be a tough process, and what I can do is be here to help, collect feedback, let you know I’m listening, and try to work through issues with you if you have specific, actionable problems that I can work together with you to solve if possible.

It is very difficult to give positive feedback when there is none.
Please note – I am not a dinosaur.
Some issues to think about:
Only 10 days statistics in view
No facility (as far as I can see) to view statistics for weeks and months
No facility (as far as I can see) for period summaries in any of the data boxes.
I realise that this screen probably works better on a tablet but I don’t use a tablet, I use a desktop.
Sorry to be a nag! -
@designsimply
It should be obvious, from all these comments, that the changes negatively impact peoples work flow inasmuch as the routes/clicks between one facility and another have increased. For example; one cannot directly log out from the Reader or return to ones dashboard. Facilities which just disappeared.

Think, WordPress.
If you constantly pander to the lowest common denominator, you’ll end up Freshly Pressing tweets and paragraphs. You’ll become Huffington Post, adding cartoon characters like Dr. Phil for sheer clickbaitability. You’ll have to start misspelling “too” and using the wrong form of “their” so your clientele won’t feel bad about itself. You’ll be forced to give out virtual medals and awards just for breathing.
Oh, the humanity!
Tell me there’s hope. Tell me there’s at least one person in your ranks who types with more than just their thumbs.
