What the heck has happened to WordPress?
-
I have had a couple if dormant WordPress sites for many years. When I initially set them up, WordPress was the best site around for creating a personal website. More recently, I attempted to set up a new site for a personal blog and I find that WordPress has become completely unnavigable! It is impossible to even access the basic functions without being bombarded by dozens of advertising windows asking me to please add something more to my site. I DON’T WANT to add all this stuff. How the heck do I get rid of it so I can simply get on with setting up my site?
I have since turned to Blogger to set up my personal blog, because it has a clean and simple interface without the hassle I now find with WordPress. I won’t be renewing this new site when the time comes.

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Out of curiosity, did you create a site here at WordPress.com?

Hello,
I agree with palebear31, wordpress.com is getting more and more complicated to use.
I am sorry to tell you that. -
Sorry to hear it. If you’ll share more specific feedback, we can work with that. Fleshing out the details of this format is especially helpful:
- I was trying to get this end result
- I tried these steps
- Here’s what happened
- I expected this other thing instead
Screenshots and links are super helpful as well. If it’s a bug we can file it that way; if it’s by design we can get that to the right team. And if there’s a workaround, we’re here to help.

@palebear31 I was just splitting off an off-topic comment and may have missed your response. If you have more feedback, let us know.
