What the hell is going on? Deactivated?

I got a notice that I’ve been deactivated

“If your blog is designed to promote affiliate links, get rich quick programs, banner ads, consists solely or mostly of duplicate or automatically generated material, or is part of a search engine marketing campaign, WordPress.com is not the place for you. Please use the Export feature to move your content to a more appropriate hosting service.”

It’s pretty goddamn clear that I’m not a splog, scraping content, an adfarm or a marketing campaign. Do any of you bother to actually review the blogs before you take this action?

Seriously. I’ve gotten 90 views today, mostly from subscribed users. 11 views from search engines.

How the hell am I a ‘fake’ blog?

I don’t even use photos that I haven’t taken myself.

Hi. This is between you and WordPress.com and they will not discuss this issue on these forums in public.

On the dashboard, on the same notice you quoted, look for a link clearly marked “Click here to contact us as soon as possible” and use it to contact staff if you haven’t already done so.

Sometimes mistakes are made and I have seen blogs returned live – but as @airodyssey indicated you need to contact the staff directly.

None of us in the unpaid volunteers in the help forum can return your blog anyway.

For what it’s worth (not much actually) I looked at your site and did not see any big obvious flags – good luck

I’m really confused. I’ve been on WordPress since 2006, and I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s happening. I’ve reviewed the terms and can’t see where I’ve violated any of them.

You still need to contact the staff with the big red button –

I think they have some automated anti-spam programs and something in your blog could have looked not right to the bot – but neither I nor the other helpers in the forum can help other than to contact the staff – other than that I have no real advice –

But as noted above – mistakes are made from time to time so you need to make your pitch to the staff and see exactly what the reason was that caused your site to be flagged –

Keep the faith and good luck

I’ve got a support ticket in right now. I know it’s a free blog and it’s not the end of the world, but it’s still frustrating not to know what’s going on.

Guess I’m going to move to self-hosting no matter the outcome of this. I’d just love to get my content back so I can move it.

    @peggyarcher
Sometimes mistakes are made with blogs being deleted for TOS violations.

If that is the case in your situation, then the TOS team will be able to reinstate your blog. But staff does not discuss such issues in these public forums so you must use the contact button with the notification.

We volunteers have no authority to determine whether a blog is in TOS violation or not.

I’ll close this thread because there is nothing to discuss here. But do contact the TOS team or staff directly. Best wishes…
