What theme do I need?

    I know so little I don’t know where to begin.
    What I want to do is build a site with providing information and news on a business segment. My first thought is newspaper type theme but as I said, don’t really know what would best serve my needs.

    It would have four or five categories to choose from in the menu.

    I’d like to post a new article every day or so on the front page, maybe have it persist for a week or some preset time, then disappear from the front page but be accessible in one of the categories.

    Later maybe add some AdSense and/or Clickbank.

    Searchable and Signup for Email would be essential but I suppose they can be added to most themes.

    Hi there,

    As a starting point, I recommend filtering themes in our repository using the Magazine tag:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/magazine/

    Themes with that tag have been designed with publications, such as magazines or newspapers, in mind and are likely to support the features you’re after.

    Gazette and Twenty Fourteen are two particularly nice examples of free themes with that tag. They feature different categories of posts at the very top and have a built in search option.

    Theme choice is very much down to personal preference, though, and so I encourage you to have a good browse and experiment with different themes in our repository.

    It’s worth noting that some of the features you’re after are supported by all of our themes:

    • You can set up a custom menu to include as many links to different post categories as you wish.
    • The Search Widget enables you to add a search box to any of our themes.
    • By default, an option to follow your blog posts appears for anyone logged in or logged out of WordPress.com. You can also make use of the Follow Blog Widget for greater visibility.
    • Advertisements from third-party ad networks like Google AdSense aren’t allowed here at WordPress.com. Instead, we have our own advertising network named WordAds which you can read more about here.
