what type of WordPress?
-
Hello. I’ve found a blog using the name WordPress that is plagiarizing content. At the bottom of the homepage you can find the word “WordPress” but it doesn’t say “Powered by…” or similar language. Also, the URL does not include the WordPress name. How can I tell if this plagiarizing blog is hosted by WordPress or if the offenders are merely using WordPress tools?
Thanks. -
Is the “WordPress” a link you can click?
Content Theft – What to Do > http://en.support.wordpress.com/content-theft-what-to-do/ Note the section on locating the web host in that documentation. -
No, the “WordPress” is not a link. I checked that on the homepage and secondary pages. Thanks for the link on what to do and how to find the host.

If you can give us the URL we can help you determine that.
Don’t include the http:// at the beginning, just give us the “domain.com” and that way the link will not be picked up by the search engines (no sense giving them any help on the search engines).

True but we can avoid having that URL posted here at all. ;)@melbabona can simply proceed to one of these sites and type in the URL on the site:
http://domaintools.com/
http://whoishostingthis.com/
Then he or she will have the web host and can follow the process set out in the support documentation I pointed to. -
If it isn’t clickable, it isn’t that much of a problem.
They could also use http://ismyblogworking.com . What type of site it is (.COM or .ORG) would be listed at the bottom of the top pane in the results and it would also list the hosting company.
