What version?
-
I have a website that doesn’t have WP Auto Update yet and isn’t up-to-date. I cannot find out what version I’m using, but my guess is that it’s a 2.6 or lower. Can you help me get started on the update process? Many thanks. Camelia Elias
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.

Here at WordPress.COM which are the ONLY blogs we p[rovide support for Staff do all upgrades and we bloggers do nothing.
I think you must be referring to a WordPress.ORG software install rather than to a WordPress.COM hosted blog like http://taroflexions.wordpress.com/
and we cannot help you as we do not provide support for any blogs that are not hosted by WordPress.COM.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
https://cameliaeliaswork.wordpress.com/ – also will not have an Updater on it either since the staff updates the sites here for you – so all you need to do is log in on that site and fix the issue of the small amount of content is from 2012 and is in need of having new content added
what is the REAL URL of the site you are concerned about?

Many thanks, folks. The .org situation is news to me, as all my blogs have the .com extension. Also, when I log in, I do so with entirely through wordpress.com, not .org, log in prompter. So, honestly, I’ve no idea what’s going on, and what ‘real url’ I should be looking for. What to do?

@cameliaelias
The custom domain extension is not relevant what is relevant is the full URL starting with http://for the blog in question. Please post it now. -
http://taroflexions.wordpress.com/ is running on the latest version of WordPress software. We are always ahead of the versions that are available to WordPress.ORG users and as I said from the outset Staff do all upgrades so don’t rely on any information that does not comes from http://support.wordpress.com as those are the only support docs that apply to WordPress.COM blogs.

Ok, great. But here’s what made me suspicious. I have, for instance, no ‘plug in’ function in the categories below the dashboard. I can do no embedding of pdf flash docs on any of the themes I’ve tried to run. I have no wordpress logo in the upper left hand corner that tells me what version I’m actually using.
-
Plugin installation possible only if you hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up a WordPress.ORG install. http://wordpress.org
There is no FTP access to WordPress.COM blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins or third party themes.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no other upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I have no wordpress logo in the upper left hand corner that tells me what version I’m actually using.
you don’t have that on a WordPress.COM blog (the one you ask for help with
you also can not use Plugin’s on your blog here – but you have a ton of Widgets and short code to make up for no Plugin’s
and as I said from the outset Staff do all upgrades
actually I pointed that out

Many thanks. The reason why I was confused is because I run another blog under a domain http://eyecornerpress.com. There I have the plug in function, and I can do embeddings, so I simply wanted to perform the same job today as I did over there. I didn’t realize that there was this .org vs .com difference. I got smarter now. Thanks for all your prompt help. Wonderful.

http://eyecornerpress.com/ – is a WordPress.ORG install and is up to date running WP 4.1
You be welcome & good luck

@auxclass
