What version of wordpress does wordpress.com run? How are upgrades handled?

What version of wordpress does wordpress.com run? How/when is security patching handled, and what about major version upgrades from one version of wordpress to another?

Staff does everything – we do nothing. The only relevant support docs for wordpress.COM hosted sites are at http://support.wordpress.com
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The version of WordPress software every wordpress.COM site runs on is the most recent one. Here Staff do all version upgrades for us users and they are done 1 month before they are released to wordpress.ORG users.

Thank you for your response, but I’m not sure why you keep bringing up wordpress.org, I’m not asking ‘.org’ at all, I’m asking about ‘.com’. Did I post into the wrong forum or something?
How about major version upgrades? Like version 3 to version 4, didn’t that require some content changes? Or was that all upgraded magically by wordpress.com?
Thanks!

This is wordpress.COM where, as I said above, Staff do all wordpress version upgrades – we bloggers do nothing.
If you are suffering from the common incorrect notion that wordpress.ORG is shared of wordpress.COM then the reverse is the truth.
If you are reading anything other than the relevant support documentation here http://support.wordpress.com that applies to all wordpress.COm hosted blogs like http://diioblog.wordpress.com/ then toss it away as it does not apply to your site.

EDIT: If you are suffering from the common incorrect notion that wordpress.ORG versions are ahead of wordpress.COM versions then the reverse is the truth.
