What version of WP do I have?
-
I have been trying to figure out what version of WP I have. I’ve been reading forums for 45 minutes and they keep saying it’s at the bottom of the page, but I don’t see it. Then they reference: wp-includes > version.php but I don’t know what that is. Can you please help me figure out what version of WordPress I have? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog linked to your username is being free hosted by WordPress.com and our blogs here are upgraded to the latest stable version of WordPress by Staff. There is nothing for you to do. A month after WordPress.com is upgraded the WordPress version is made available to WordPress.org users who have self-hosted blogs.
Then they reference: wp-includes > version.php but I don’t know what that is
Any and all references that to php or the codex is irrelevant for your use as it refers to WordPress.org installs only. Please read this entry as it clarifies the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and self-hosted WordPress.com installs. WordPress.com vs WordPress.org

OOOOOHHHH! That would explain why I don’t see it at the bottom of the page. :)
I read the link you provided and it said that one of the cons of a wordpress.com site is that I can’t install plugins. The thing that started this, was that I wanted to have photo album, or way for readers to scroll through my pictures in a post, rather than posting them one after another. It seems like the only way to do that is with a plugin, but I can’t use those, right? Did I understand correctly?

You can use the gallery feature here, or you can use the slideshow feature.
The gallery page doesn’t really cover the newly introduced “carousel” feature, so have a look at the official announcement for it.

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.
