What's going on?
-
Dear folks,
I’ve had a blog on WordPress since 2011. For the past four years I have purchased additional storage space @$20 per year so that I could post audio files with my blogs.
I have been on leave for three months, and when I came back I found that I needed to renew my additional storage. However, I could not find a way to do that, and I suspect, looking at the way things are laid out, that this is no longer an option. From what I read, I won’t be able to add sound files unless I upgrade to your Premium plan.
Is that really what you want? If that is your only option, I will have no choice but to take down my blog and post it on our church’s website.
Please respond with options.

Stand alone upgrades were discontinued last year. Now we need to register a plan and the price has changed.
See: https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/
All WordPress.com blogs come with 3 GB of space for uploaded files and images.
WordPress.com Personal includes another 3 GB of extra storage, for a total of 6 GB.
WordPress.com Premium includes another 10 GB of extra storage, for a total of 13 GB.
WordPress.com Business includes unlimited storage space.Note that you will need a subscription to one of these plans in order to upload certain file types (audio, video and zip files).
We have 4 different plans: free, personal, premium and business. All hosting is free regardless of which plan you choose. You can view all wordpress.com plan features here https://wordpress.com/pricing/ Add a plan for each of your sites here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans/.

You can do that under the personal plan but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.

If you had not allowed the upgrade to expire then you would have been grandfathered. Maybe that can still happen. I tagged this thread for a Staff response.
