What’s included in the Twenty Twenty Four Theme on Personal Plan

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi everyone… I have started building my site with the Twenty Twenty Four theme on the personal plan, only to discover that I cannot change the fonts or use any of the available colour palettes bar the basic white without upgrading to the premium/business plans. Is that your experience too, or might there be a bug on my dashboard?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello @urujasif,

I completely get what you mean, it can feel limiting when you’re trying to fine-tune your site’s design and discover that some options aren’t available yet.

I can see that you’re trying to customize global styles on your site with the Twenty Twenty-Four theme while using the Personal Plan.

The Styles feature, which lets you apply global color palettes and fonts across your entire site, is available on the Premium Plan or higher. You can still open the settings, but you’ll see this message when trying to use them:

“Your site includes premium styles that are only visible to visitors after upgrading to the Premium plan or higher.”

You can read more about how Styles work here: https://wordpress.com/support/using-styles/#about-styles-1

If you’d like to stay on your current plan, you can still customize your site beautifully by adjusting individual blocks:

You can make plenty of creative customizations this way with the Twenty Twenty-Four theme. If you’d like to set global styles that affect your entire site, like unified color palettes and font pairings, then upgrading to the Premium Plan would unlock those tools.

Let me know if there’s anything else that I can help you with!

Thank you Zikria… I’m editing fonts in indiv blocks and it seems to be working… appreciate it.

    Hello again!
I tried changing the background colour of a specific block on the homepage, and the ‘update to premium’ notification is resurfacing. How can I add a custom colour without upgrading please? I tried adding a custom colour as per Zikria’s advice above, but no use.
The colour I’m trying to add is #FECD5A.

    Thanks!

    Hello again, @urujasif!

Could you please share which block you’re encountering this issue in so we can take a closer look? Also, if you could share a screenshot, that would be really helpful.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Many thanks… I’m trying to change the background colour of ‘What We Do’ block. See screenshot attached.

    Hi @urujasif,

Thanks so much for sharing the screenshot, that helps a lot! You can change the background of the “What We Do” block to #FECD5A without upgrading by following these steps:

    1. Go to Appearance → Editor from your dashboard.
    2. Click on your homepage preview on the right to open it in the Editor.
    3. Open List View (the three stacked lines icon at the top) and select the Group block that contains the content for “What We Do.” It’s the second group block inside the main parent group. Here’s a screenshot to guide you: https://snipboard.io/0NO15Z.jpg
    4. Once selected, click the Styles icon (circle icon) in the right sidebar, then under the Color section, click on Background.
    5. Click the color picker and enter #FECD5A as your custom color. Click Save to apply your changes. You can also refer to this screenshot: https://snipboard.io/PBol2x.jpg

This method applies the custom color directly to that specific block, so the “upgrade to Premium” message won’t appear again.

Let me know how it goes and if you need help with anything else!

That’s normal, not a bug. On the WordPress Personal plan, you can’t change fonts or full color palettes; those design features are only unlocked with the Premium or Business plans.

    Quick workaround:
You can still customize some basics using the Additional CSS option (if available) or by switching to a different free theme that allows more style edits without upgrading.

Thank you so much Zikria… your details and screenshots were just perfect, and it worked! :)

    Really appreciate it.

  • Unknown's avatar

That’s wonderful to hear @urujasif, I’m really glad it worked out!

You can follow the same steps to define other custom styles for individual blocks, too, like changing fonts, font sizes, adding borders, and more. It’s a great way to fine-tune your design just the way you like it.

Since you already have a paid plan, you also have access to our Live Chat for faster support. You can reach us directly from your dashboard by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/#how-to-contact-us

Our team is always here to help with anything you might need.
Wishing you a fantastic day ahead!

    Hey there! 👋
Yes, that’s actually expected behavior with the Personal plan. WordPress limits some design customization options — like custom fonts, full color palettes, and advanced theme editing — to the Premium or Business plans.

You’ll still be able to make basic layout and block changes, but features such as Style Variations, custom fonts, and extended color palettes are locked behind the higher tiers.

It’s not a bug — just part of WordPress’s plan structure. If you want more creative control without upgrading, you could try:

    • Using block-specific color settings (some still allow manual color entry).
    • Adding pre-styled blocks or patterns that fit your design goals.

Hope that clears things up a bit! 😊

Hello again… I’m now trying to edit the header and the pages aren’t showing. I see a message ‘Page list: cannot retrieve pages’, despite the fact that I have created about and contact pages.

    See screenshot attached. Thanks!

    Hello again, @urujasif!

The issue you’re experiencing is that your pages are set to draft and haven’t been published yet. To fix this, you just need to change the visibility of your page to “publish” by following this guide:

    https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/#control-how-a-page-or-post-is-viewed

Please let us know if you have any questions or need any extra help, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

    Thanks elcristofue!
Staying on headers, how do I upload my site title? I have been able to upload the logo/icon, but the actual site title is only a free text option. I have a designed title which I’d like to add here.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello! Is anyone able to answer my question above?
here’s what I need help with:
    1. How do I upload my site title as an image (as it’s part of my designed logo).
    2. How do I add a content item that is actually an anchor to a specific location on the homepage.

I searched the help centre resources for answers but couldn’t find anything suitable.

    Many thanks, as always!

    Hi @urujasif,

I’d be happy to help you with your questions!

To start, since you’re looking to add an image as your site title, instead of using the Site Title block, you can remove the current site title and add an image to your header instead. Here are the steps to take:

    1. From your dashboard, navigate to Appearance → Editor.
    2. Select Patterns.
    3. Click and select Header.
    4. Select the current Site Title and delete it. You can use the List View (three lines in the top left corner) to help ensure you’re selecting the correct block.
    5. Once the Site Title is removed, a (+) button will appear for you to add another block.
    6. Click this, and select the image block to upload it.
    7. In your block settings on the right side, you can change the size of this image, or you can drag the sides of the image itself.
    8. If you’d like to link the image to your homepage, you can follow these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/link-image/#add-a-link-to-an-image.
    9. Save your changes.

As for the anchor item, to do this, you can follow the steps in our support guide on creating page jumps, here: https://wordpress.com/support/page-jumps/.

Please let me know if you have any questions on this!

Many thanks for all your support!

I’m making good progress on the site. I now need a privacy policy template text. I know that there’s a WordPress one which I could adapt and incorporate? Please point em towards it. Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Hey, I’m really glad to hear you’re making great progress on your site — that’s always exciting!

Yes, you’re absolutely right — we offer a Privacy Policy template that you’re welcome to adapt. It’s released under a Creative Commons ShareAlike license, so you can copy and customize it to fit your site’s specific practices. Make sure to revise the language so that your policy reflects your actual practices.

Here you can read more about it: https://wordpress.com/support/how-to-create-legal-pages/

If you’d like even more customization, there are third-party privacy policy generators you can explore, too.
