What's the best premium theme for my blog?

What’s a great premium theme – that’s easy to use, great for building a small business brand/personal blog? And that looks hip and chic? My blog is a self-help/motivational site – that is both fun and informational. I’m just not sure the best way to upgrade my look and maximize my reach. (I have a wp.com site.)

    Really appreciate your insight.

Theme selection is subjective and we Volunteers don’t select themes for other blogger or proffer any theme selection advice beyond directling your to the Themes Showcase. http://theme.wordpress.com/ There you can use the searchbox to narrow your selection choices. You will also find each theme has a description and a live demo site. For Changing/Activating New Themes see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#changingactivating-new-themes

Note 1: As you are referring to a business blog you will want to purchase the No-Ads upgrade to prevent your competitors’ advertising from appearing on your blog. So if your budget is limited you may not wish to spend it on a premium theme and may find it’s a better use of funds to purchase a No-Ads upgrade instead.

WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

    Happy hunting! :)

Good info – thank you. If I purchase a premium theme, do some offer the No-Ads option? Or is the no-ads upgrade something I can only purchase in WP? I see also the “bundle” purchase option that includes no-ads on video as well for $99.

I really want to upgrade the “look” of my blog (beyond just the no-ads upgrade) and trying to figure out the best way to minimize the costs naturally. Do I need to get a premium theme and a no-ads upgrade? Or is that redundant?

No themes offer a No-Ads option.
Premium theme purchase and annually renewable No-Ads upgrades purchases are separate purchases.

Yes, there are bundles but it’s false economy to purchase an annually renewable bundle of upogrades if you do not require all the upgrades any bundle contains. http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/

If you have CSS editing skills or the kind of patience required to wait for Staff support for days and even weeks on end, then you can purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade and use CSS editing to cutomize the appearance of any theme here.

Just so you are crystal clear on the differences between free hosted Wordpres.com blogs and WordPress.org installs for self-hosting please read this http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Note that every paid annually renewable upgrade here at wordpress.com is for something you can do free of charge on your own wordpress.org install.
Hope this helps and best wiahes with your blog. :)

The WP.org list of “cons” is what concerns me (although the .org appears to be more “professional” and more long-term based for my blogging needs.) The cost is the lesser concern than having a blog that is easy to run and where I can build a following for my personal brand. It can be confusing the best and most professional route to take here.

    Again thanks for your help.
