What's the difference between buying a domain with WP.com or GoDaddy.com?

I want to BUY a domain ASAP! I’m trying to figure out what’s the difference between buying a domain with wordpress.com to godaddy.com. I’m so NEW at this. Can someone please explain?
What’s the Price difference? What’s the easiest and the cheapest? WordPress.com or godaddy.com?
What all do I need and what do I need to buy?
If I buy the domain name at godaddy.com, bring it here to wordpress.com to use, do I need to buy the mapping fee here at wordpress.com?
If I buy the domain through wordpress.com, would I be able to keep it and go elsewhere with my domain name if I were to want to do that someday?

    Thanks in advance.

    WP – name – yes – yes

I think WordPress.com is one of the cheapest registrars around – $ 5.00 here – just check the price at Godaddy. A bit easier if the domain name is registered here – but I survived my first domain mapping experience just fine when I registered a name at namecheap.com – they seemed to have a good reputation also and did not cost much.

You just need to register a Domain name somewhere.

You need the Domain Mapping ( $ 12–) no matter where the Domain name is registered.

If you register a name at WordPress.com you can transfer it to another registrar after 60 days (internet anti-fraud rule) – but there is no need to move the name – all you need to do is change where the name-servers are pointed if you decide to host your site with another host.
