What's the difference between site and blog?
-
Hi,
I just finished creating my site and blog (if those are two different things) and it’s my first time doing either so I am a bit confused. Are these two different things? If yes, how?
Also, I finished my first blog too (yay!), and I was confused about what happens after I finish writing it? Like do I need to invite people to few it, will people be able to search for it by themselves or something else?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is a slight difference in that blogs have new content added regularly, in the form of posts. To check the difference, watch the second video on the https://wordpress.com/support/video-tutorials/get-started/ support post, titled ‘Do I need a website, blog or both?’
If you want people to be able to view your site, you can either set it to Private to let WordPress users you approve view it, or set it to Public to let everyone view it. You can change settings by going to My Site > Manage > Settings and scrolling down to Privacy.
https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/If you set a site to Public, it may take 4-6 weeks for search engines to index your site.
At first, if someone was to type your site/blog title into a search engine, depending on how unique the name is, your site might not be the first site listed. If you want to get more traffic, there are many ways to do this, some of which are outlined below:
One way is to use a mix of appropriate broad and specific tags. For example, if your site is about reviewing books, you might create a tag ‘book reviews’, but also a more specific tag ‘book review about [book title]’. Someone who wants to find a book to read might type in ‘book reviews’ to Google, so might find your site. Someone who wanted to know whether a certain book was what they wanted might type in ‘reviews about [book title]’, which is why the more specific tags are helpful. If you wanted to appear on the WordPress reader, make sure not to use more than 15 tags and categories combined; if there are any more, the Reader won’t index your site. You can read more about that here: https://wordpress.com/support/topics/
It’s also an idea to use keywords. For example, if your blog was a book review blog, use keywords such as the book’s title or themes within it. Make sure it doesn’t turn into ‘keyword stuffing’, though; if you use so many keywords that the sentences become unnatural, this could affect your site negatively.

I hope this helps!
