What’s the difference in a link and a blogroll?

I have not found anything in FAQ that explains the difference in a link and a blogroll. Is Blogroll simply a list of blog links, or is there more to it?

It’s simply a list.
A link in a post is something interesting or relevant that day to that post.
A blogroll would be a list of links that you always find interesting and want to pass on to visitors.
