What's to be said I wonder…..

  • re: taking the video/page down, would it be alright if we downloaded and archived it somewhere so more of our developers can refer to it? I could upload it to one of my test sites.

Now for setting the px size of the vimeo block — do you mean the dimensions of the video itself?

No. I mean the block itself.
As you well can see, embedding – either to short code block or Vimeo block –
and the videos are in 16:9 format, the blocks in question are in square, or basically square formats. This can’t be adjusted. At least that’s my conclusion.
It would have been very nice if those blocks could “wrap” the video inserted/embedded – still have frames and drop shadow.
But this is something I wish for, because I put a frame to the blocks, I want the videos to stand out from the page.
If I/we just embed videos straight in, you don’t get that problem, but then everything becomes flat pasted on the page. I guess many will not mind that –
well…I do. I deal with visuality, you know, not so much with text.
But, I live with it for now :)

With short code block it’s possible – if needed – to address height % width of the video (or maybe image too?).

As for downloading the pages, that’s ok!
Let’s see how we go from here. Maybe developers find a fix for the blocks in question given time.

Thank you for your patience. If I encounter more peculiarities I’ll be back.
    For now, all is well!

  • Ah I remember this now. We are only able to style outside the video frame, and if the frame isn’t the exact dimension of the video there’s little we can do there.

It’s not the same, but one thing you could do is set the background color instead: less like a drop shadow and more like a mat, though you wouldn’t have much control over the size. You could shadow or outline that box, too, much like what you have on your front page. If you’d like to send a link to a page affected by that, I could send some sample CSS.

Yes, exactly. But maybe given time developers may do something about it.
Now, If you go back to https://petitpoisvideos.com/2206-2/
I have posted a video for you down the page.
Here I’ve just “thrown” the embed on to the page, no block, no column.
Because I’ve added some drop down shadow to images via CSS, the video gets treated like an image.

However, the display works, but I don’t think there is any way to set a certain size this way, which means too much of a page will be taken just for 1 or 2 videos.

Let us hope for development in the future.
    Thanks, supernovia .

(Front page is 1 image worked together in Photoshop)

Supernovia isen’t around just now I think,
but I wonder if I can take down the test pages…..?

Also, I have quoted myself here from previous post because I wonder if you knew you can embed a video without using any block, and then the video thumbnail gets treated like an image.

My understanding is that because it’s a frame, there’s no way for us to change this without actually changing how browsers work.

You can go ahead and take down the test pages; we were able to get the video. Thank you!
