Whats up with the Day and Date on my Blog Posts??

  • Unknown's avatar

I just visited my blog and found that the “day and date” on my posts have been suddenly switched to a TIME?!?!?

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Thank You!

    That’s strange.

I just checked my test/private blog (which actually happens to be using the same theme) and it’s fine.

Check out your date/time options in you control panel. Make sure they didn’t get set to something strange.

If they look ok, then probably send in a support ticket when they open next week.

    Hey katm~

    Thanks for your reply!

Are you talking about the “blue section” on the the post page?

If that is correct…I did check and everything within the box (day and date) are there.

It’s with ALL my posts…oy vey!

    Thanks for your help…appreciate that!

    timethief~

    Got any ideas?

Your ALWAYS so good at fixing things!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

I haven’t a clue. Let me check out my testblog like katm did {waving to katm}.

Edit: I tried Connections out and it was fine. So what that seems like is that it could be blog specific and that means that you’ll need staff to effect a backend fix.

    Thanks Timethief!

As katm mentioned support is closed for the weekend, except for urgent matters.

Try your dashboard – options – general – last section is date/time.

Make sure everything in there is correct.

If it is, then you’ll need to contact staff on Monday.

Just checked it out and where the default date format is…it’s blank.

Can you give me a suggestion as to how to fill it in again?

    Thanks all!

  • Unknown's avatar

Default date on mine is F j, Y

Default time on mine is g:i a

You’ll have to figure out your time zone.

Mine are the wp.com default, btw.

    Your the BEST katm!

Thanks for getting back to me!

    And so are YOU timethief!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Is it working now?

And you’re very welcome. It was a shot in the dark and now we see the light, LOL.

    katm~

    You are GOD!

    Much thanks my friend!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I take that it’s working.

    Yup… just checked.

And definitely not a god. Just a lucky guesser :)

I have adjusted my general options to show the correct date and time for my time zone, and to my required format. When updated, my new defaults display correctly on the options page. However on my blog, my date and time settings and format are being completely ignored. This is nuts! Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Unknown's avatar

Is this the case on new posts? My understanding is that changes to the clock take effect only for posts made subsequent to that time.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks raincoaster, I’ve since discovered this. Unfortunately, my settings got changed, but not by me, and now all my previous posts are wrongly dated. Funny they got changed respectively, but if I change the settings, the dates don’t change. What’s that all about?

But can’t be explained is that my preferred format settings are now ignored in all themes I’ve tried, including Kubrick, ‘the default WordPress theme’.

I was trying WordPress prior to commiting long term, but I’m worried now it’s not a stable platform. Add to that the performance logjams, and I may need to find an alternative service. Where should I look?

  • Unknown's avatar

Can’t recommend alternative services. I’ve looked around and tried five different ones, and WP.com is quite honestly the most stable I’ve found. It sounds to me like you’re the victim of a random glitch.

Performance logjams? Are we talking about a blog hosted at WordPress.com? If not, you’re in quite the wrong place. See the sticky thread at the head of the forums: Read Me First. If you’re running your own install of WordPress independently hosted, you’ll need to ask for help at WordPress.org, where I am sure there’s a simple fix.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, I’m hosted at WordPress.com. I don’t understand why my date and time formats aren’t ‘sticking’.

    Anyone?
