What's with the political ads?
-
I just uploaded a post and someone took exception a political add at the bottom. What gives with that? How can you do add something like that to a personal blog? I know there may be ads but political ones?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have the same issue. A political ad appeared on my blog, and the candidate is opposed to the things I stand for in my blog. It looks like I am endorsing the candidate.

yes and that should not happen. I now have three very unhappy readers…..
I don’t care if I have a free program (actually don’t) or not….throwing political ads in is not right. Unfortunately no one will address it.

I too am seeing ads for a candidate I don’t endorse. I don’t think there should be any political ads because many readers just don’t understand that we bloggers don’t choose the ads, no matter how many notices about that we put up.

Hi there,
I understand why you wouldn’t want political ads to show on your site, but we can’t report an ad to our advertising partners if we don’t know exactly which ad it is.
The ads that appear on your site depend on the location of the person viewing your site and their browser history, so visitors from different parts of the world will see different ads on your site. I, for example, are seeing ads from an online shopping merchant I bought from recently, so can’t see the ads you’re referring to.
So with that in mind, I need to ask you to please take screen shots of the ads you’re seeing, and email them, with your site addresses, to help@wordpress.com. Then we can report those ads to our advertising team who has the final say about whether or not to ask our advertising partners to remove them.

Sorry, the email address got stripped out.
Please send the screen shot to help at wordpress.com, and we’ll take a look.

I don’t have a screenshot….the forum owner just sent the ad he saw. I am in Texas and he is in Tennessee.

Thanks. I see you managed to get someone on chat. They’ll follow up with the team responsible.

Are you kidding me? You don’t know what ad it is. Remove me from any ad that supports Donald Trump. That is not cool. I am okay with you advertising food, cars or whatever. But you can’t place any ads that go against my beliefs on my own blog. Which you guys knew when you accepted the ad money.
You wouldn’t put ads for or against abortion. Don’t put Donald Trump on my blog. I dont need to send you a screen shot, you should ask if users are ok with it and not just add it to our accounts because they are free.

And I find the responses to our request to be patronizing. You knew it would not be ok, to place Donald Trump on our blogs. You already knew that! It’s common sense. Unless WordPress is a supporter of Donald Trump.
Are the owners of WordPress supporters of Donald Trump?
Let me research that. -

We don’t control which ads are shown. As I explained above, the ads are placed automatically by our advertising partners, based on the location and browser history of the person viewing your site.
We can ask our advertisers to withdraw a particular ad, but to do that we need to know exactly which ad it is. As I don’t see the same ads on your site as you do, the only way to know that is if you email us a screen shot of the ad in question.
