What's wrong with my Featured Image option?
-
Hi, I recently changed my Theme to Twenty 11 in order to be able to show my posts as summaries with a thumbnail image. However, when I try to choose a featured image, most of my posts don’t come up with the images (that are already in the post) in the gallery option of Add Media, or in the Set Featured Image option itself. And sometimes, if it is there, it doesn’t come up as a thumbnail image on the blog anyway. I’d be very grateful for your help please, I only changed theme to be able to add thumbnail images! Many thanks!

You’ll need to actually upload the image again to set it as a Featured Image.

Many thanks for your help! T’is a shame to have to re-upload many of the images – quite time-consuming. Is this usual for changing between themes?
-
Yes unfortunately (featured images aren’t set to the same size between themes).
Something we’re hoping to make better and easier in the future. -
Fraid it’s still not working for thumbnail images: For example in the post ‘San Pedro and it’s people,’ I have reuploaded the imagine titled ‘The nearest village to the reserve, Santa Barbara’ and selected it as the Featured Image (the Edit Post page shows that it has been selected, and it has worked successfully as the header image), however on the blog homepage the thumbnail shows an entirely different image. On some other posts, the thumbnail image showing is not from the post at all. Am I doing the thumbnail picture selection correctly? Thanks again

With Twenty Eleven, images that are more than 1000 x 288 pixels and set as a Featured Image will be displayed as the custom header image on that individual post:
