  Hi, I have read an old post (2013) talking about the idea of including whatsapp as a choice for publicise. How is this going? Will it be available soon or has it been didiscarded? In my country, Spain, it is this major social network by far!

  Hi there. WhatsApp is a messaging service, not a social network like Facebook or Twitter. People can’t choose to follow or unfollow you and you don’t have a “wall” or a “profile” where you can post status updates, which is basically what Publicize does. Connecting WhatsApp to your blog would rather be like mass-emailing or texting blog posts to people, which is likely to be considered spam as it will be a form of unsolicited mass-mailing which is in fact against the law in many countries.

  I don’t work for WordPress.com, so this is only my opinion, but I think it highly unlikely that something like that would be included. WordPress.com does send out emails of our blogs, but it’s strictly opt-in – a visitor has to specifically ask to receive that email. You can’t upload your address book and automatically send emails to everyone. Likewise you can’t automatically send your blog to everyone in your phone book or WhatsApp contacts.
