WhatsApp Share Button Does Not Work In WordPress iOS App

    Hi,

    While using the WordPress iOS App, the WhatsApp share button returns an error message stating “Unsupported URL”.

    Hi AKS,

    Thanks for the screenshot. Could you also make a screenshot of where you are clicking on the WhatsApp sharing button? It would be great if you could include the whole screen as you did on the other one.

    Or are you manually entering the post URL into WhatsApp?

    In my testing, WhatsApp doesn’t return an unsupported URL error for your site links shared through their web app. But the other screenshot should help us retrace your steps and look at what is happening in the mobile app.

    I did not enter the URL manually.

    Further to the previous post, if I access my blog with the browser on my iPhone without signing in, then the WhatsApp share button on blogposts works.

    But if I sign in with the browser on my mobile and then access the blog, the share buttons are missing and only one general share link is visible and that does not lead to the WhatsApp share link. A screenshot is at https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnFSIupFYceBhKAeeKooPtkot1jN1g

    I could be wrong, but I feel a person signed in with the iOS WordPress App can’t use the WhatsApp share button on his or her own blog.

    Hi –

    The WhatsApp button works when I try it out on my iPhone with Chrome browser.
    Anyone viewing your site from their mobile browser is not going to get the “unsupported URL error”

    Now, when I go to your site from the iPhone WordPress app and try to use the same WhatsApp button I get the error. Following and then unfollowing your site made no difference.

    I am going to pass this along to our mobile team who can take a closer look and provide us with more help. Once we have more news I will report back.

    Hi,

    As I had mentioned, even with Safari on my iPhone, I can share my own blog post on WhatsApp with the WhatsApp share button but only if I am not signed in.
