when a post was made private

Hi, is it possible for me to supply you with a psot I created and published in June 2021, ansd have you be able to check the date this one post was private?
It’s a long story but it would be vey helpful for me to know if there was a way for you to see this information.

You can check this yourself when you compare the date of that post with the dates bellow.
changed from Public to Private 3 years ago (7/18/2019)
changed from Private to Public in June 2022 (6/14/2022)
changed from Public to Public but blocking search engines (nogoogle) a few days later (6/25/2022)
Your entire website was private between 7/18/2019 and 6/14/2022. Since 6/14/2022 everything on your site is public. -

In this question I wasn’t asking about he while blog, just one particular post. You know how you can set the blog to public and then individually choose a setting between PRIVATE, PASSWORD PROTECTED or PUBLIC for each post? I was wondering if I gate the details of one particular post it would show when that post had been made private (ie, was it right from the moment of being published or at a later date?). Is there any way admin can look at this data?

Hi there,
Can you provide the URL of the specific post? We do log when posts are made private, so we can check if there’s an entry for the post in your site logs. However, we don’t log when a post is published, be it fully public or password-protected, so we can’t tell you when it was made public.
Changes like that do get recorded in the activity log under Jetpack ->Activity Log in the dashboard, but we only keep a limited log there for sites on the free plan.

I’ve tried every which way to find the slug but when I look at it it only offers me the 5 digits at the end of the publish date

Thanks for that – those 5 digits were actually what we needed! That number is the post ID and we used that to look up the history of that published post in your site’s logs.
It looks like you first made that post private on 2022-06-12.

That’s great, so glad it worked.
Can I ask, are you able to see how long it was password protected for, rather than made private?
I think it was protected before it got changed to private and would like to know that date if at all possible.
I just needed to know it wasn’t public.
