when adding pictures, I’m getting “IO error”

Hi
I’ve been adding pics to my blog happily for some time now, but in the last couple of weeks, whenever I’ve tried, it keeps coming up with “IO error”.
Can anyone tell me what has changed or more importantly, what I need to do to get back to adding my pictures?
I have done a search on IO error and don’t seem to see anything related so hopefully I’m not starting another thread if there is already one here – If I have, please accept my apologies and point me to it.

The I/O device error means your computer is not properly responding when reading the data while installing a program. I suggest that you run a virus scan on your computer.

I’ve been having the same problems with my photos. Did running a virus scan work? -
I’m having this problem as well. All my virus scans are up to date and I have no problems currently. Still am getting the IO error each time I try to upload a photo.

First, log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. If that does not do it, restart your internet modem. If that doesn’t work, have you tried a different browser to see if that works?
Typically IO errors, unless the entire wordpress community is experiencing the problem, are issues somewhere between your computer and the wordpress servers (intermediate invisible proxy server issues or network disruptions, etc.).

I was also having this problem. I run a flashblock extension in Chrome and when I added wordpress.com to it’s white list the error went away.
This solution might be a bit specific to help you directly but it could give you ideas on what you could do.

update to above. cleared the browser cache and cookies. but still get IO Error. have McAfee anti virus and Avira.
anything else to do? -

You’ve done the first bit, up to ‘if that does not do it’. Now you need to try his other suggestiongs.

ok so im a bit slow. changed the setting in the upload box from flash uploader to browser uploader and it all works.fine.Acuhuw

Hi – I’m also having this problem! Really driving me nuts..
I’m running WordPress 3.0.1 with multiple blogs but it’s giving me this trouble across versions on all my sites.
Primarily it’s with png images but sometimes jpgs too..
Any help would be appreciated!
