When I am trying to add to my menu in the header, the header disappears.

    I am following the instructions to add items to the menu in my header. When I do so, a large portion of the header disappears. I would like to have more than ‘home’ and ‘about’ in the header, but it is better than a header with a big portion erased. Thanks for your help. (I am new to blogging, so I need step by step help, please)
