When I click on the icon to begin a new post, I get a blank WP screen
-
When I click on the icon to begin a new post, or switch to the ‘new improved editor’ or simply type in wordpress, all I get is a ‘blank’ WordPress screen in tones of blue with no icons…nothing! just a blank background. When I attempt to chat with the happiness engineers…I get the same blank screen. The only way I can begin a new post is to start typing it in quick draft and then save it. I have lost functionality that I’ve had for years!!!

I would recommend clearing your cache and cookies. More information can be found in the support document below.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,
In addition to clearing your cache and cookies can you can also try the following:
* Check that JavaScript is enabled and supported by your browser:
* Disable any ad-blocking and security extensions on your browser
* Check that you’re using the latest version of your browser:
* Log-out and log back into your WordPress.com account.
* Try another browser:
If all of the above doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

Can you please let me know what browser you are using? Go to http://supportdetails.com/ and take a screen shot of that page. Then upload it to your media library so I can see it here:

Also please see if unplugging our router for a few seconds, using a different internet connection, or flushing your computer’s DNS cache, helps.

I failed to mention that I’ve been having these problems for quite a while. Apple, due to other problems has recently replaced my lap top…yet the problems with WordPress continue!

Unplugging my router did nothing. I attempted to flush my DNS cache as described, but…it asked for my administrative password and gave me no place to enter it, so…nothing.

Thanks @gardenriots, can you let us know what browsers you are using, and what versions?
Also are you using any security features that could be blocking scripts on our post screen?

Safari Version 11.1.2 (13605.3.8)
Google Safe Browsing
Block Popup Windows
and I’m enabling Java Script -
Would you be willing to check the error console? It’s often clearest in Chrome.
– Load up Chrome
– Go to wordpress.com and log in
– Start a new post
– Assuming the screen is blank, enable the error console, with option command J
– Refresh the screen
– Get a full screenshotYou can either upload it via wp-admin/media, or upload it to file sharing site and send us the link.
