when I log in I get message “can’t establish database connection.”

  Error message means I can’t log into the site I have maintained since 2014.

  On WordPress.com, “Can’t establish database connection” is not something you can fix yourself.

  This message means there is a temporary database or platform issue on WordPress.com’s side, not a problem with your account, password, or site content.

  Please contact WordPress.com Support so they can check and restore the site. The forums don’t have access to database or server-level issues.
