Why do I see black broders on the sides of my video?
-
I have uploaded a number of videos using videopress. When i view them via my blog on fullscreen mode, there is a black border (maybe 1/5 of the screen) showing.
What have i done wrong?
thanks

Thanks for responding Ranh.
I have set up a publicly accessible area with a video on with which we are having the same problem. Go to http://www.timeline.tv/dashboard/projects-demo/. When the video is played in full-screen mode the black border is visible.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I should have said, i am uploading video to a wordpress.com blog (address above) and then sharing it on a self-hosted wordpress blog (www.timeline.tv). NOt sure if this has an impact.

Apparently the video you linked above was shooted in 4:3 format, then saved as a 16:9 format video, hence the black section on the right.
Please check your camera and video editing software settings to be sure they correspond.

Thanks paolal.
I have tried again, using my iphone to record a video. I am pretty sure it is recorded in 16:9 (dimensions on my local machine – 568×320 – dimensions on videopress – 568×320).
I have uploaded this to video press and copied it onto the same page as last time (http://www.timeline.tv/dashboard/projects-demo/). Now on full screen it puts a black bar at the bottom of the video.
Incidentally it also displays the video upside down!
Any ideas?

The video upside down is due to the orientation of the phone. VideoPress does not interpret the orientation information to rotate the video. If you shoot your video with the Home button to the left, it should be in the right orientation.
The black bar below your video means that your screen may not exactly use 16:9 proportions, but 16:8 or 16:10. Computer screens are not, like TV screens, only 4:3 or 16:9

I wonder if there is any way to centre the video in the player so that the black bar is even around the image? Is this possible?
-
The page you were referring to appears to no longer exist.
Unfortunately, the centering of the video in full screen mode is up to your computer. Some will center it, some will align it otherwise.
