when I preview my post the spacing is wrong

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m writing a new post and I have the spacing right on the draft but when I go to preview, in both the old and new formats, the spacing is off. I tried changing the spacing a few times, deleting and rewriting, but the last half of the post has no spacing each time I preview it. This has never happened before. Any suggestions? Please help!!

    Hi pprober,

I’m writing a new post and I have the spacing right on the draft but when I go to preview, in both the old and new formats, the spacing is off.

What is the title of the post you are working on? If you let me know, I’ll have a look what could be causing it.

    Thanks!

It’s called Time Out for Some Shameless Self-Promotion and is in the drafts. The spacing looks good in the draft but when I go to Preview the second half of the post has no spacing. Thanks so much!

    Hi pprober,

I’ve found the cause of the spacing issue. It was due div tags in your post, some of which weren’t closed. You can see an example in this screenshot:

As there were only a few tags, I’ve removed them for you. If the same happens again in the future you can remove them in the HTML tab of the post editor:

    Types of WordPress Editors

If you look in the HTML tab of a previous post like ‘How Can You Be Too Much And Not Enough At The Same Time?’, you’ll notice there aren’t any div tags.

Did you type directly into the editor or paste the text in from somewhere else for ‘Time Out for Some Shameless Self-Promotion’?

I’m not tech savvy at all so don’t understand HTML. I normally type directly into the editor and did originally for this post but when I had the spacing problem I copied the text and then deleted the post and then pasted it into a new post to see if that would cure the spacing problem. But I typed it in as I always do at first. Is there something I did that created the unclosed div tags? Thank you.

Thanks, gemmacevans! It looks great now. I appreciate your help.

    Hi pprober,

    You’re welcome!

Is there something I did that created the unclosed div tags?

Normally this is the result of copying text from a Word document or email — formatting is copied along with the text and pasted into the post.

If you didn’t copy the text from another program and you have the same problem with future posts, just reply here and I’ll take another look.

I’m adding new Administrators, I have put spacing between the two people’s bio’s, but when I preview, there is no spacing. They are right on top of each other. Suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hi tesfainternationalschool,

Please start a new thread for your question and tag it with ‘modlook’. Once you’ve done that, a member of staff will take a look.

    Thanks!
