When I set page settings, they change when I edit the page.

  I set up all the pages on my site and am now adding content. However, anytime I edit a page, it changes the ‘parent page’ settings and breaks links on other pages. When I try to reset those settings, it either won’t give me the page list to set a parent page or says that there is no content to link to/from. How do I make this happen without deleting pages and starting over?

  Hi there. This is a known problem with the new editor and they’re working on fixing it. At this point the only option is to use the classic editor instead when editing pages. To use that editor, go to the WP-Admin dashboard (http://claytonjhorath.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) and click on Pages ->All Pages ->Edit.

  I tried doing that and am having the same issue there. It doesn’t even give me the option of setting up parent pages in that editor, and won’t let me create or edit menus, link other pages, or anything else. I don’t want to delete the page all together and have to start over that way, because I don’t want to lose the domain. I’m just really frustrated because I am wanting to get this set up and nothing seems to be working correctly.

  Just to clarify: If you create a page it is automatically a parent page, so you don’t need to set up a parent page. If you then create a second page, you can set the first as its parent in the Page Attributes.

  When you publish a page it is automatically added to your blog’s default menu. However, you can also create a custom menu if you want, for example, to link to other pages from your menu.
