When I set up the blog, the set up screens are still available to everyone

How do I hide the ad min so that when visitors come into my blog, they don’t have access to change my settings?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy,

Only users with the proper permissions (Administrator) will be able to change settings on your site. For the widgets on your site that are linking to the widgets settings, once the settings for each are completed, those links won’t display any longer.

Are there particular links that you’re seeing you’re referring to or need help with any of the widgets?

    Cheers!

Then why do they show-up while I am creating the site. As you can see, going into my site the Admin is totally open for you to also make changes on my Blog. This seems crazy to me and totally unprotected during my work in progress.

By the way, why doesn’t the instructions from WordPress make this clear?

    Thanks for your response.

  • Only you, when you are logged in, are able to access any part of your site’s administration. If you’re logged out, you would not be able to change those settings.

At the moment, unless you’re logged in (or a staff member of WordPress.com, like me), no one can see your site since it has been marked as private in your Settings->Reading page (found here https://pugmeister.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php ).

Does that clear this up any?

Unfortunately it does not. I did restrict access to everyone for now, but if I remove that restriction, anyone can see my site under construction including the admin. I checked this through another computer and logged into the problem.

by the way, I was not asked for a password when logging in from another computer, as it logged directly to the site with the Admin visible until I restricted everyone from logging in. I suppose when I am finished with building the Blog the Admin access will automatically go away and I can open the site to everyone my Blog attracts. I hope that will automatically work.

  • Hi,

Once you’ve marked your site as public, please let me know. I haven’t seen any reports of the admin (the admin being http://pugmeister.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ ) being available to non-admins for a site.

    Thanks.
