When I sign in and get to my Dashboard, there is no PlugIn category on the left

  When I sign in and get to my Dashboard, there is no PlugIn category on the left hand side (online support and the WP book I have always show a “PlugIn” category under Appearance–mine does not have one. Can you tell me what I am missing?

  There are no plugins allowed on WordPress.COM so perhaps you need to take a look here at the different flavors of wordpress:
