When I switch to .org, how do I preserve my inbound links on .com
-
Hi. I had/have a .com blog: turnertoys.wordpress.com. At some point, I must have created blog.turnertoys.com on the .com platform. Recently, I started a blog.turnertoys.com on .org and imported all my posts, etc into .org. No problem there.
When I’m in .com, I see that I have 3 blogs:
a) turner toys (.com blog)
b) blog.turnertoys.com – nothing there, just a front page
c) turner toys (.org blog)Questions:
1) how do i delete the blog.turnertoys.com blog that’s on .com and has nothing in it? Will this affect my blog.turnertoys.com that’s on .org?
2) how do i transfer wp.com inbound links to .org?
3) should I delete my wp.com site or just make it private or set up a redirect to .org even though my original .com posts are already there? What will that do to my .org site? When I search “turner toys blog” on google, my turnertoys.wordpress.com comes up.PS I should mention that turnertoys.com is an ecommerce site hosted by Core Commerce and blog.turnertoys.com shows up perfectly there..
Thanks!

Hello there!
To answer your questions in the same order:
1. Technically, that site is named “turnertoysdotorg.wordpress.com” and you can follow the instructions here to delete that site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Please note deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address in the future.
2. If you want to have anyone visiting “turnertoys.wordpress.com” to be redirected to your self-hosted “blog.turnertoys.com”, you can purchase the Site Redirect upgrade by going to Store -> Store on your turnertoys.wordpress.com dashboard. Click the “buy now” button on the Site Redirect and follow the instructions. Here’s more information on this upgrade:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/3. The site redirect will take care of any Google searches directing people to your WordPress.com site by sending them to your correct self-hosted site. Over time as Google reindexes their content, that search result should change to the blog.turnertoys.com. It may take up to 6 months for that to update.
I would recommend you make your “turnertoys.wordpress.com” hidden from search engines by going to Settings -> Reading and clicking “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” and saving.
That should take care of it! I know that was a lot of information, so please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers!
