When I try to edit the page, it takes me to a blank page.
-
My homepage has text, a picture, and a menu, but when I click on “edit” through the WP dashboard it brings up a completely blank page. Confusingly, when I then click on “view page” on said blank page, it shows me the non-blank version with a picture, the menu, etc. What is the problem and how can I fix this?

Hi there!
I see that you contacted us on live chat shortly after posting this, and we managed to help you. But to recap:
The content on your homepage is actually added through the Full Site Editor and not through the page editor. What this means is the content you see on your homepage is actually coming from the template called “Front Page.”
To edit the template, please click My Site → Appearance → Editor. When the Site Editor loads, you can click the “Edit” icon, and you’ll be in the editor to edit the content in the template.
You may want to check out this page about Full Site Editing if this is your first time using it. :)
We also have more resources over at https://wordpress.com/learn that I strongly recommend checking out. There’s also a video tutorial on getting started with WordPress.com and using the block editor that I highly recommend.
On a separate note, have you considered getting an email address with your domain? If you’d like to have a professional email address connected to your domain, I recommend our Professional Email subscription. The first three months are free to try it out!
Feel free to let us know if there’s anything else you need and we’ll be happy to help.
