  I just started with a free plan to test the popularity of my site without buying a domain. Now, if start getting a lot of views and traffic in this free site, will WordPress let me know so I have time to upgrade my plan and be able to keep the visitors before it crashes?

  You can continue with the free plan. There’s not a size limit on visits and traffic.
