When to change DNS when you migrate to .org

    Hi,
    I want to migrate to .org, i have already registered to a host (ovh), installed the wordpress.org there but now i am wondering when do i need to change the DNS from the wordpress.com to the ovh ones and what will be the effect. I have been told i should do it right away and then migrate the blog once this DNS change is active. However if i do this can my reader still find my blog? Or do i need to do it and redirect right away?

    Hi there – You should first export all of your content from WordPress.com and import it into your new site:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

    Once you’ve confirmed that everything is moved and appearing properly at the new site, then you should move your domain to point it to the new site.

    Then, you should install and connect the Jetpack plugin:
    http://jetpack.me/

    When you’ve done all that, reply and let me know and I can move your followers for you.
