When using the premium package I lose my font choices under "customize"
-
The theme I use on my blog is “Origin” and by default it allows me to choose different fonts for heading and base font under the “customize” menu. When I paid for the premium package the first year I noticed all of the font choices vanished from the pull-down menus for heading and base font. I deleted my old blog and recreated it and again noticed those font choices were there, I upgraded again and again the font choices vanished.
What’s the deal with this? I’m not too happy about paying $99 to have reduced functionality.
Thanks.

Hi there,
When I look at the Customizer for your site I can see all the Google fonts that are available for free sites as well as all the Typekit fonts that are added by the Premium Plan. If you don’t see it, it’s most likely a browser issue.
Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, and make sure you don’t have any antivirus or ad-blocker extensions in your browser that might be blocking JavaScript, and then check the Customizer again.
If you still can’t see the font lists, please take a screen shot of what you see and upload it to your media library for me so I can see what you see.

O.K. Let me check it out in another browser. I’m using Firefox, let me try Chrome and IE.
I’ll post back.

I found the problem, NoScript was blocking typekit.net, why it wasn’t issue before upgrading is weird.
One more thing I noticed the Merriweather font is quirky when rendered in IE and Chrome. When I first load my page the Merriweather font that I’m using for my heading appears to be very thin. When I refresh the page they appear bolder. The same goes for individual posts when you click on them.
Firefox doesn’t appear to have this issue.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Everything on the My Sites pages use JavaScript, so if you use a browser extension to block JS I’d recommend you add a permanent exception for all WordPress.com pages to prevent possible problems going forward.
It looks like you’ve changed away from Merriweather now? Are you still seeing this behaviour with Oswald, which you have applied at the moment?
With custom fonts we first load the theme’s default font for the sake of people with slower connections, before loading the custom font. On fast connections it should barely be visible, and after the first load the font should be cached in the browser so on subsequent loads it shouldn’t happen.
But as you saw, different browsers might also treat this differently.
