When will a wordpress address be available again after it is deleted?
-
Hello everyone,
There was a .wordpress.com address i wanted to use but was taken. I spoke with the previous owner and he agreed to delete his blog so I could use its name (he posted twice and never again, 12 years ago).
When i try to visit said address, it says it’s “no longer available” and that it has been deleted. But when i try to change my blog’s adress to this one, it still shows as taken.
What can I do?TL;DR
When will a wordpress address be available again after it is deleted?Thank you!

It’s a bad idea to delete a site if you want to reuse is. You had to transfer the site instead, https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/.
Wait for a Staff Member, perhaps it’s still possible to solve this problem. -
Hi there,
We do not recycle old WordPress.com site URLs.
The most important question, was the site deleted less than 30 days ago? If so, it can be restored by the original owner: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/#reverse-a-site-deletion
Once a site is restored, it can be transferred to someone else. :)
So, if you’ve successfully contacted the original owner before, and can do so again, there’s a chance this can be resolved. Here’s what you’ll need to do…
Contact the original owner again.
1. Ask them to restore the site they deleted (again, if less than 30 days ago) — they will need to contact us so we can help them do that.
— At this point they may wish to “empty” the site of all content, prior to giving it to you, here’s how: https://wordpress.com/support/empty-site/
2. Ask them to “transfer” the site, as staartmees mentions above, using this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
