When you can’t log in to comment on another blog
-
Dear Forum Members:
I signed up for a wordpress.com account so I could comment on my friends’ blogs. However, when I attempt to log in from a certain blog, it keeps giving me the login screen again and again with the notation “Invalid username.” I know my account works and is activated. What else can it be?

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.
If you don’t understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

If the friend’s blog is set to private, then they have to add you as a “user” to the blog. If they have it set up so that only those logged into wordpress can comment, then you should be able to comment.
Can you view the blog while not logged in, or does it want you to log in just to view the blog?

I can view the blog. It is the michellemalkin.com blog, so I know it’s public. The log in link there redirects to the wordpress.com screen, where I get the errors I mentioned above.

The owner has it set up so that only those who log into wordpress can comment, but it can be viewed and read by a nonmember. Just to be clear ^^

There are two types of wordpress blogs. Those hosted here at wordpress.COM, the free hosting service, and those that are self-hosted using the software downloaded from wordpress.ORG. That blog is self-hosted, so it is not in anyway connected with wordpress.COM.
You will have to get a username and password directly from the blog owner.

There is no link to do that though, and attempting to sign up redirected me to the wordpress.com website.
