where are all the widgets?
-
Is there a link to a library of widgets that can be used on a blog page? I am new and I cannot find it if one does exist…I had heard about drag and drop widgets and I want to check them out. Any pointer/help would be greatly appreciated
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

i have now read the “using widgets” page but I still cannot find where the actual widgets are. I have read about the widgets such as meebo, rss, text etc. but I still cannot find a way to play with them..

Thanks but another question. I read about the widgets and it said that javascript, flash etc. are not allowed in the widget code. However the Meebo widget uses flash. How come?

Certain widgets do use flash and javascript, but it is handled in the background by wordpress where they have control over it and can make sure that it does not muck things up or cause security issues. WordPress has their own Meebo widget which means they are in control of it.
Users cannot add javascript, flash, iframes or forms, because they may inadvertantly introduce security issues or bugs which could end up effecting everyone else. Facebook and a few others have been brought down by bad script introduced by members in the past.

The reason I inquired: We are a startup (www.trackle.com) and we have our own widget library for things that can be tracked on the internet. The widget library is available at: http://www.trackle.com/export/
Unfortunately our widgets do use javascript. We would like to find out what will it take to work with WordPress to convert our widgets into using wordpress shortcode (or whatever it is called) and enable bloggers to use them on their websites. I believe we will add value to the bloggers via our widgets.
I am not sure who to go about this. If you or someone can again provide pointers it would be great…
Best regards
Naveen Saxena (Trackle CTO).

You will have to contact staff directly to see if they are interested: http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ . Include all the details of course as well as a link to your site and the widgets you have available.

Hi thesacredpath,
I had filled out a form at support.wordpress.com with information about our site and the widgets that we have available. I did not hear back. How can I get in touch with the folks at wordpress to talk to them about our widgets…
Very anxious to speak with anyone and get some advice on making progress. I do believe that we offer great value in our widgets and if there are any changes required, we would be more than happy to consider and make them.
Best
Naveen
